Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent

Welcome to Aimhigher Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.  Our purpose is to break down the barriers to entry to higher education, especially for those from under-represented groups without a tradition of going to university.  We want to reach out to young people, families and communities across the area, whatever their background, to encourage all those with the potential to benefit to progress to HE and to make the most of their educational opportunities.

How are we doing this?

Our Aimhigher programme in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent offers a range of activities that include:

  • HE taster days for schools and for work-based learners
  • Master classes
  • University and college visits
  • Improved information and advice about HE for young people and their parents
  • Summer schools
  • Residential experiences
  • Developing and promoting access and progression routes
  • Providing Learning Mentors and support workers in schools and colleges
  • Student ‘apprenticeships’
  • Enterprise programmes in primary schools
