Associates Information

Aimhigher Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin is working in partnership with Wolverhampton University, Harper Adams University, Worcester University and Glyndwyr University to recruit undergraduates to work as Associates on this scheme. If you are a student at one of these universities and are interested in finding out more about this opportunity please find out more by reading the information below.

The Aimhigher Associates Scheme

Would you like to make a difference and raise the aspirations of young people?
The Aimhigher Associates scheme looks to provide undergraduate students from state school backgrounds the opportunity to work in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin schools and colleges. As an Associate you would support young learners, between the ages of 14 and 19, as they progress through their education.

Being an Aimhigher Associate is an exciting initiative which gives you the opportunity to make a significant difference to a learner’s life, whilst gaining some transferable skills and practical experience which will be invaluable for your future career.

Aims

The aim of the Associate scheme is to recruit and train university students from similar backgrounds to the target learners to provide support, encouragement and guidance. Our target learners are selected from those groups currently under-represented in higher education.

The Associates Role

As an Associate you will work with learners during key stages in their educational journey between the ages of 14 and 19 – stages which have the potential to lead to higher education. An Associate will act as an informed and resourceful role model supporting and encouraging learners, enabling them to experience new and possibly different perspectives on their studies. You will aim to reach a stage where they recognise that progression to higher education is an achievable goal for them.

Are you interested?

We are now recruiting students from similar backgrounds to the target learners to participate in the scheme as Aimhigher Associates.

If you are interested, and believe that you can make a significant difference to someone’s learning journey, please look at the detailed information in the downloadable information pack or send your contact details by email to A.Khanna@wlv.ac.uk.
