A to Z Vocational Learning Guides

Birmingham and Solihull and Black Country Aimhigher, in partnership with the Birmingham, Solihull and

Black Country Life Long Learning Network have produced a new edition of the popular AZ Vocational Learning Guide.

This guide provides local and updated labor market information for all 14 sectors of work and employment, and gives examples of the wide range of learning pathways available, with case studies from around the region and clear signposting to local, regional and national sources of information, advice and guidance.

The A to Z Guide is a very useful tool in meeting a number of the six Principle of Impartial Careers Education, including:

    >Outcome 1.4 Young people recognize barriers to the achievement of their plans and understand how these can be overcome

    >Outcome 2.3 Young people understand the skills and qualifications that they need to pursue their ambitions

  • Principle 3: Good Quality, impartial careers education provides comprehensive information and advice

    >Outcome 3.2 Young people understand the full range of learning available to them in school and elsewhere

  • Principle 4: Good Quality, impartial careers education raises aspirations

    >Outcome 4.5 Young people understand the benefits of remaining in learning

  • Principle 5: Good Quality, impartial careers education actively promotes equality of opportunity and challenges stereotypes

    >Outcome 5.3 Young people consider learning and work options that are not generally associated with their school

  • Principle 6: Good Quality, impartial careers education provides comprehensive information and advice

    >Outcome 6.2 Young people understand the progression opportunities afforded by each part of the curriculum

    >Outcome 6.3 Young people understand the importance of KS 4 and post-16 subject choices in long-term work and career options.

    >Outcome 6.7 Young people understand and demonstrate the main qualities, attitudes and skills needed to enter and succeed in working life and independent living
